Humphrys is Helping Out
Since the first couple weeks of the shutdown, the Philadelphia Fire Department has been working with Humphrys (primarily through MetFlag) to create one-piece masks which they are handing out whenever they come into contact with mask-less individuals. Marlin was on Family Feud — and Won!
Last year, CoverSports Production Manager Marlin Meachem competed on Family Feud with his family, winning one episode and narrowly losing the next. Surprisingly, he was able to keep this secret until a couple days before the episodes aired early in April. In the time since, Marlin sat down to tell us a bit about the experience:

Philadelphia Area Resources for Residents During Isolation
Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services offers the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, to help households currently with low or suspended incomes get more food. Applications can be submitted online by clicking here, or filed in person at your county assistance office. You can click here to download an application to fill it out in advance. Also at this website and those offices can be found information about Energy Assistance, Cash Assistance, Child Care, and Medical Assistance.
The Salvation Army provides emergency food assistance and weekday breakfasts as part of their family programs. To sign up or get more information, call 717-233-6755 or email [email protected].
Many schools are still providing free breakfasts and lunches to children despite closing under Governor Wolf’s orders. You can check out our story on continued school meal programs by clicking here. Additional food resources can be found here.
Several banks are taking action to assist their customer, including such benefits as waived service fees or programs for those suffering financial hardship. More info can be found here.
Finally, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline can be reached at 1-800-273-8255 at any time, for anyone struggling with the isolation.
